Quando Rondo basically tells a story about his life and what all has transpired throughout it. He shares some of his memories of his struggles from the streets, to deaths, to juvenile centers, to encounters with his mother. Lil Baby, a well known rapper from Atlanta shares his memories, mainly about how his ex girlfriend cheated and how it hurt him, street shootings, and when the judge sentenced him to jail. He goes through all this by somewhat apologizing to his mother for all the pain he put her through, even though he still is consistently getting money by any means necessary, and still is how he was and never changed.

In an interview with DJ Vlad, Quando revealed that he wrote “I Remember” while he was in county jail serving time for a gun charge. Once he was released, he posted a viral video of him freestyling “I Remember,” while beating on the hood of a car. Several months later, he recorded the song featuring a Lil Baby verse that would become his breakout single.
